Rules & Regulations Task Team

Learn the truth! This false and/or misleading information was published following my Letter to the Editor in the October 2025 Sunriver Scene:

The most obvious false statement is that there are no “voting members” or “voting procedures” for the Task Team. How the heck would they make any decisions?

As of the date of publication, this is what you’ll find at the http://www.sunriverowners.org/taskforceprojects webpage:
* An “Agenda” link. Click on it, and the September 11 agenda for the “SROA Communications Workgroup” is displayed. No agenda is posted for the “Rules & Regulations” (“R&R”) Task Force.
* A link to “September 9 Meeting 1 Notes. These notes state that the “end-product” is to be a “complete revised/updated Rule and Regulation document to be recommended to the Covenants Committee and the Board of Directors for adoption. …” Obviously, this product would require a deliberative process and votes by voting members of the Task Force.

There is also a bullet list of process steps, which do not involve Sunriver owners until the document is “cooked,” and this will be the typical “pitch” to sell the Task Force decisions, rather than inform and listen to owners early in the process.

Although there is nothing posted at the above link to inform Sunriver owners about the R&R Task Team meeting schedule and locations, these were included at the end of the Notes document:

  • October 14
  • November 12
  • December 9
  • January 13
  • February 10
  • March 10

The regular meeting time is 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the SROA Administration Board Room and accessible to Task Team members by Zoom.

There are no apparent means for Sunriver owners to observe these meetings or to submit comments in writing or at the meetings. Note that on Page 15 of the October 2025 Sunriver Scene, the calendar doesn’t include the R&R Task Team meetings.

The R&R Task Team members have not even been appointed yet and are already making decisions about their process and on which rules to focus!

I confirmed with James Lewis, SROA General Manager, that the SROA Board has not yet even taken the vote to appoint members, as required by the Sunriver Bylaws!

I urge Sunriver owners to write the SROA Board and insist that an open and inclusive process be established before any substantive work is done by the Task Team. Send your emails

Stay Informed! Subscribe to this site’s blog posts which will include all the information that the SROA isn’t providing. Plus, opportunities to respond to surveys on owner preferences regarding specific rules, such as yard ornamentation, firewood storage, etc.
